Terms of Service
Effective date: 9 July 2026
Operator: OnlineJourno (“we”, “us”). Contact: legal@onlinejourno.com.
By using Loupe you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Loupe.
1. What Loupe is
Loupe is a browser-based worktable for photojournalists: it reads a JPEG locally, suggests keywords/trends, applies limited ethics-safe corrections (tonal adjustments, crop, straighten, sharpen), edits IPTC/XMP metadata, and lets you save the result. Your photos are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us (see the Privacy Policy).
2. Licence and ownership
Loupe is proprietary software owned by OnlineJourno. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use Loupe as offered. You may not copy, decompile, reverse-engineer, resell, or create derivative works from Loupe. You retain all rights to your own photos and content — we claim none.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use Loupe only for lawful purposes and only on images you have the right to edit. You are solely responsible for the editorial, ethical, and legal compliance of any image you produce or publish, including caption accuracy, consent, and rights clearance.
4. Editing limits and honest expectations
Loupe deliberately offers only ethics-safe corrections (tonal, crop, straighten, sharpen) and logs every adjustment. It has no content-manipulation tools. You accept that:
- “Sharpen” is an unsharp mask that can recover slightly soft frames. It is not a focus-repair or deblur tool and cannot rescue an out-of-focus photograph.
- Loupe works with JPEG only; RAW is not supported.
- Metadata is written on a best-effort basis to IPTC-IIM and XMP; you should verify critical metadata in your own workflow.
You remain responsible for meeting your outlet’s or agency’s photojournalism standards.
5. Free and paid tiers
Local editing is free. Some features (richer trend/keyword data, AI-assisted captioning, DAM/CMS export, batch, history) are or will be paid and/or usage-limited. We may change tiers, limits, and pricing with notice. Paid terms and billing, when introduced, will be presented at purchase.
6. Accounts
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. You must provide accurate information and be at least 16 years old.
7. Service “as is”; no warranty
Loupe is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of suggestions, or uninterrupted availability. Trend/keyword and AI caption suggestions are aids, not editorial judgments, and may be wrong; you must review them.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OnlineJourno is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or publication decisions, arising from your use of Loupe. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months, or ₹0 for free use.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or misuse. You may stop using Loupe at any time; because your photos are never uploaded, nothing image-related is held by us.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be notified to signed-in users and reflected in the effective date.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the courts of India.
